Elbel: A student favorite just steps from the Athletic Campus. It’s home to Elbel Field, where you can find students playing rugby, ultimate frisbee, sand volleyball, and more.
Yost: Located south of Packard, this area is the heartbeat of South Campus. It’s a major hub for student-athletes and sits directly across from Yost Ice Arena, which hosts $3 public skate nights.
Tappan: The center of the action. Tappan houses the Law Quad, the Ross School of Business, and many Greek life houses just minutes from the Diag and the shops on South University.
South University: Perfectly positioned between campus and city nightlife. This vibrant area balances a bustling restaurant scene with the peaceful, historic beauty of Forest Hill Cemetery.
East Packard: Comprised mostly of student houses and apartments, this neighborhood centers around the Tappan Triangle, a signature meeting spot for local residents and events.
Historic and Scenic Communities
A mix of students and long-term residents with a quieter, neighborhood feel.
Germantown: A scenic transition between campus and downtown filled with historic stone churches and turn-of-the-century homes. It features iconic landmarks like The Cube and the Michigan Union.
North Ingalls: Located north of Rackham, this area is famous for its colorful historic houses. It puts you just steps away from the Power Center and a variety of North University restaurants.
Old West Side: A favorite for graduate students and permanent residents featuring architecture dating back to 1850. Local life centers around favorite neighborhood stops like Washtenaw Dairy and Jefferson Market.
North Burns Park: One of Ann Arbor’s oldest residential areas. It is the proud home of “The Rock,” an ever-changing canvas painted for student spirit and organization announcements.
Old Fourth Ward: A historic gem that includes Kerrytown. This area blends old-world charm and modern energy, hosting the Ann Arbor Farmers Market every Wednesday and Saturday.
Oxbridge: Nestled east of Washtenaw, this neighborhood houses Oxford Housing and many Greek life chapters. It offers easy access to The Arboretum (The Arb) and is well-served by the Oxford Shuttle.
North Campus Living
Nature-focused and a bit more relaxed.
West Murfin: The primary student neighborhood on North Campus. It offers a peaceful, nature-filled escape from the bustle of Central Campus, while remaining a short walk from the unique shops and eateries along Plymouth Road.
