Respondent Support Program

Get help and guidance if you or someone you know are named in a sexual or gender-based misconduct or a discrimination and harassment report. We are here to assist you through each step of the process.

Named as a respondent?

A respondent is an individual who has been reported for a potential sexual or gender-based misconduct or discrimination and harassment policy breach.

If you have been named as a respondent, our team will reach out to you directly to offer assistance, or you can contact us at any time to set up a meeting.

Respondent Support Advisors are university staff members who work independently from the investigation. They protect your privacy to the greatest extent possible, but they may need to share information with campus partners.

Note on confidentiality: If you require a fully confidential resource, you may choose to hire an attorney or utilize confidential campus resources.

How we support you

Our team works to protect your rights while offering clear resources and support and helping you understand your responsibilities after being named as a respondent.

Our Respondent Support Advisors are here to guide you through the process, helping you:

  • Understand university rules and learn what to expect during the process.
  • Navigate the campus process while managing family or personal stress.
  • Connect with local resources both on and off campus.
  • Attend (some) official meetings.
  • Review final reports, school files, and materials.
  • Get support for academic, (inter)personal, or other stress related to this process.
  • Manage your immediate and on-going needs like quick shifts in housing or dining.
