Advisory Boards

Advisory boards provide a meaningful way for students to share ideas and feedback with university leaders, collaborate with staff on important issues, and find solutions that improve campus life for everyone.

Dean of Students Advisory Board

Board members work with the Dean and other students to discuss new initiatives, highlight student issues, and provide valuable feedback.

Who Can Join

Undergraduate and graduate students from all schools, including professional programs like Law and Social Work, are welcome to apply. The selection process includes an application and an interview.

Board Commitment & Meetings

Appointments feature a one-year renewable term (September–April).

  • A mandatory board retreat kicks off the year and sets central priorities.
  • Meetings occur every other Wednesday from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.
  • Active participation is a core requirement for all members.

Campus Climate Student Advisory Board

This board focuses on students’ perspectives of inclusion and respect across campus. Members meet with the Campus Climate Support team and various campus leaders to discuss campus-wide projects, help shape special events, and improve messaging campaigns and support services.

Who Can Join

Undergraduate, graduate, and professional students from any academic background are encouraged to apply. Members are selected through a short application and interview process.

Board Commitment & Meetings

Appointments feature a one-year renewable term (September–April).

  • Monthly in-person meetings are scheduled on Fridays from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
  • Regular attendance is required to keep collaboration strong.

How to Apply

Applications for the 2026–27 board are open and will remain open until all spots are filled. Contact the Campus Climate Support staff to request the application form. The staff will contact applicants for brief interviews once materials are reviewed. Email campus-climate-support@umich.edu with any questions.
